TRANSALPINE GROUND AND PISTOIA ASPHALTS ON THE HORIZON

This weekend two participations with Ciuffi, who takes the French road and joins the third 208 Rally Cup event, and Maestrini who is back on board of a 208 R5 for the Rally degli Abeti.
Tommaso Ciuffi, after plenty participations in Italy, continues his French adventure flanked by Nicolò Gonella, on board of Peugeot 208 R2. The couple will join 20th Rallye Terre Du Diois, the third test of the 208 Rally Cup, which will take place on the favorite land of the Tuscan driver, the ground. After the great performance at Adriatico, the objective of the away race is seeking the first place.
Leopoldo Maestrini’s program continues, navigated by Iacopo Innocenti on the Peugeot 208 T15 R5. The rediscovered couple will look for a repeat of the Liburna race, by racing on the demanding asphalts of the Pistoia mountain for the Rally degli Abeti.
CONTRASTING VIBES FROM THE 1000 MIGLIA RETURN
A high profile weekend for Domenico Erbetta at 1000 Miglia, with a first class S2000 place tanks to his chronometric aknowledgement in CIWRC. It was a pity that the joy was short because of a two minutes penalty for cutting across the course at the end of the race. The penalty fell him down from the first to the third class place, impeding him to repeat the Elba result.
At the race there were also two Peugeot 207 S2000, driven by Tiziano Panato and Stefano Liburdi, who returned after a long stop. The two pilots reached respectively the fourth and the fifth class place; confirming the naturally aspirated and all-wheel drive car reliability of Peugeot.
The couple Menegatti/Gambasin raced with a Clio S1600 and it maintained the promises by getting even from the unlucky away race of Elba; a second class place and seven important points for them in the Michelin Rally Cup’s rank.
Great times also for Antonio Forato on board of the 208 T16 R5, which permitted him to occupy the first class place, until the cautionary stop because of the little oil loss.
