21 Sep SUPERB WEEKEND FOR THE SCHIO STABLE: EVERY CREWS ON THE PODIUM

Very important weekend for the crews: at “Roma Capitale” De Tommaso and Ciuffi put on a show at the second to last appointment of CIR reaching great chronometric results and gaining important rank places, Vellani wins at RAAB and Mariani ends with the class silver at Rallye de Corte.

The main event of last week has been for sure the 5th Rally of Roma Capitale, penultimate appointment of Rally Italian Championship.

At “Junior” Damiano De Tommaso fought flanked by Paolo Rocca, behind the wheel of Peugeot 208 R2. The Varese pilot, after having a good start by winning Race 1 on Saturday, classifies second in Race 2, delivering the title to the direct rival. The Rome race on the other hand has stabilized the leadership of the top pilot of 208 Competition Top Trophy, reaching 63 points.

The second crew, starting on the Rome asphalts, was composed by Tommaso Ciuffi and Nicolò Gonella, on a Peugeot 208 R2. A demanding race for them, that has been closed with an eighth place in overall rank and a third one in the class rank, confirming again that the young pilot doesn’t turn his nose up at asphalt. It has been a great opportunity to raise important points for the 208 Competition Top Trophy, in which the Florence pilot bounced to the second place, behind De Tommaso.

At the 29th Rally Alto Appennino Bolognese, Roberto Vellani hasn’t fallen short of expectations in a couple with Fabio Cangini; the Reggio Emilia driver has conduct himself nonstop on board of a Peugeot 208 R5, impressing a fast rhytm and reaching the best timing on almost all the special tests, ending with a overall victory. The result permits him to stake a claim on the ACISport Regional Championship victory, in the section reserved to Emilia Romagna and San Marino, because they are joint winners on top of the rank with the crew composed by Dini/Lazzari.

Great performance also for the Corsica driver Paul Andrè Mariani, on board of a Peugeot 208 R2 at the 30th Rallye National de Corte, who reached the second step of the podium in R2 class.

READY FOR RALLY DELLA RIVIERA AND VALTELLINA CUP

The Schio stable continues its task breathless and in this last weekend of September it is on starting line of Rally della Riviera and Valtellina Cup.

Ready for the 61th edition of Rally Valtellina Cup, last of four test of IRC Cup series, in which the white and green crews composed by Bernd Zanon/Denis Piceno will be on race on board of a Peugeot 207 S2000 and Tommaso Ciuffi/Nicolò Gonella on a Peugeot 208 R2. The Alto Adige pilot Zanon prepares himself for a strength fight in a difficult class, the S2000; THE Florence one Ciuffi, back from a satisfying “Roma Capitale”, will get in the car hardened looking for class gold, to climb the rank of salirà in auto agguerrito alla ricerca dell’oro di classe, per scalare la classifica del 208 Competition Top Trophy, in which he is in third place. The competition consists of 136 kilometres of special tests, on the Sondrio roads, on Friday 22 and Saturday 23.

At Rally della Riviera (23th Rally città di Camaiore), scheduled for 23 and 24 of September the couple Pucci/Rossi is on race on board of a Renault Clio S1600, to fight on the six PS for a total amount of 36.60 timed kilometres.
