12 Apr DEMANDING AND THRILLING WEEKEND
On ground and asphalt rally, but also a cronoscalata last weekend. The Schio crew proves adaptability and expertise serving its drivers.
Power Car Team traces a positive balance after last weekend. The team worked in three fronts and at the same time at two important Championship starts, CIRT and IRC; a significant amount of work that produced a great result.
At 9th Liburna Terra, the first appointment of Rally Terra Italian Championship, the young Nicolò Marchioro, heavily penalized by dal numero uno sulla portiera, he fought like a lion from the beginning until the end, closing his performance with a 6th place nel CIRT. Some important minutes for him, with the mind focused on the next appointment, the Adriatico, where he has to disclose the real strength of the couple driver and car.
Luca Cecchettini at the start with Peugeot 207 S2000, spent little time for removing the rust from himself after the months when he was out of competitions. The tenacious Lucca driver, took the top of the class already in the “special test”, and he kept the place until the end, proving to himself to be able to have high level performance.
Another 207 S2000 was available for Leopoldo Maestrini, stopped because of a banal puncture, at the last PS, which has impeded the tuscan driver to end a crescendo race, but he leaves himself good vibes for the next ground appointments.
For crews were deployed at the 7th Rally Lirenas, first IRC appointment.
Bernd Zanon seems to have taken the measures of Peugeot 207 S2000; after the great performance at “Grifo”, launched “the strike” at Lirenas, placing 12th in the national Championship and 1st in class.
The alliance was composed by Ciuffi/Melino/Goldoni, all with the “little” of Peugeot, the 208 R2.
Tommaso Ciuffi, dirt and dusty road lover, seems to get along also with the asphalt. A great proof for him, 3rd place in the R2B class and 22th in the national championship. The race ended without any problems also for Marco Melino who placed 9th in the class. It was a pity for the “about-turn” happened in the last PS which impeded him to end with a better placement. Instead for Simone Goldoni the race ended after only 3km of the first sunday “special test”, because of a road exit.
There was also a cronoscalata planned, where there were the brothers Raffaele and Riccardo Ferrante at the 27th Salita del Costo, both on a Clio S1600. For them a symbolic family challenge, which this time is won by Riccardo, who placed 2nd in class with a 5’40.53 period.
